What is Spirituality?
Spirituality is the search for meaning, purpose, and a connection to something larger than ourselves. It is not just about religion, but it can also be about the beliefs and practices we have that are part of our everyday lives.
Spiritual Health is a complex and multidimensional aspect of the human experience that involves cognitive (thinking), experiential, and behavior aspects. The cognitive or philosophic aspects include the search for meaning, purpose and truth in life; spirituality can also involve feelings of hope, love, connection, inner peace, comfort and support.
The behavior aspect consists of feelings of connection to others and the world around us, such as feelings of harmony and a sense of belonging. It can also involve a sense of responsibility, unconditional love, forgiveness, and pacifism.
There are many different ways to practice spirituality and some people have a more formal religious experience. However, most spiritual people are not rigid in their beliefs or traditions and can adjust to changes as they occur throughout their lives.
One thing is for sure: if you want to start practicing spirituality, it’s going to take some work on your part. You may need to practice mindfulness and find moments of transcendence daily, but it’s worth the effort.
There are a variety of spiritual paths and beliefs out there, so it’s important to pick something that feels right for you. The best way to make this new habit easy is to commit to it, and be consistent with it.
